Varun Talwar
I live in Fashkhana, a village about thirty minutes from Solan, in the Himachal hills.
For most of my working life I have been in business — I run a venture fund, and I sit on the boards of many companies . I am not a monk and I have not renounced anything. I mention this because I think it matters: these verses are not being sent down from a mountain. They are being worked out by someone with a full
inbox.
I came to the Gita, Dhammapada, Bible, late and badly, the way most people do — looking for relief rather than truth. I stayed because the relief did not come and something better did. Since then I have been reading the Buddha, the Gita, and the Tao in the mornings, and writing what I find in the plainest English I can manage.
My wife and I built are building WhiteLight on twenty-seven acres of farm, out of mud and clay, so that people could come and be quiet in it.
GoldenLight is the other half of that — the reading, the questioning, the words that go into the silence. I get things wrong regularly. If you think I have misread a verse, write to me. That is not a courtesy; it is how this improves. You can write me at varun@goldenlight.org
My detailed bio is on my website www.varuntalwar.com
